I chilled a bit at the hotel before heading out to see the Old 97's Saturday night (I decided to stay in Dallas over the weekend because they were playing). I tell you what, before the show I hit a hot dog place that had the best hot dog I've eaten in a long time. Big D's Dogs on Greenville ave has the goods allright. Their secret?
- they use potato buns
- they grill the buns for smoky goodness
- crushed Fritos are available as a topping
- you can get the dog "country style", meaning that the bun is deep friend. The gal behind the counter said this gives the bun a donut texture.

it is a crazy story. I admit that I did feel a little weird going to a benefit for a guy who got drunk, beat up his girlfriend, and was shot trying to break back into her apartment (but was actually at someone else's door) after she kicked him out. I don't know what part the anti-smoking drug played in his freak-out but everyone speaking that night talked about what a nice gentle guy he was.
Ergo, smoking is good for the health and the community. Q.E.D.
